This update is a mirror for the update on the Kickstarter page for Dice & Ink, accessible via: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inkwellgames/dice-and-ink-a-roll-and-write-anthology/posts/2779569
March is upon us, and it is time for a new backer update.
Our New Cover
Some of you may have already seen it on Twitter or elsewhere, but we have a new cover for the book. It features Islands of Atlantis by Alexander Shen front and center, as well as Little Island Gift Shops by Toni Catino, and Celestial Stories by Grace Kendall. The gold polyhedral borders reflect the style of our rule books inside.
Our previous cover was a placeholder for the Kickstarter campaign, and while it sufficed for the time being, we made a new one for technical and aesthetic reasons.
We hope you like the new cover, which is quickly also becoming the center piece for a lot of imagery for the project.
Our project has slowly but surely been moving through the proofing process. We had some delays regarding Chinese New Year as well as the COVID-19 virus, also known as the coronavirus, but we have received word from our printer that our proof will be here in approximately two weeks. The proof will mainly show us how the colors and paper will look in the final product; we hope that reviewing the proof will not take long, and we can just give the green light to print. At that stage we are hoping to get more detailed information on when we can expect the books.
In the meanwhile though, we have uploaded all of the rule books to our website. You can access each rule book via the games’ individual pages. We will also be uploading the rulebooks to BoardGameGeek, and the rulebooks will be in the print-and-play files as well, all conveniently packaged. The easiest way to reach the individual pages is via the main Dice & Ink page, where the games are listed: https://inkwellgames.com/diceandink/
The print-and-play files are almost completely done. Odin is now doing the final checks. We are working on figuring out the final details on the best way to get these files to you, with emphasis on accessibility, and the ability to update files as needed.
At the last count, there were only 12 dice orders left to ship, all of which are international orders, which unfortunately take longer to ship. We understand that some backers have been a bit nervous about this part of fulfilment; if you have any questions, you can always reach us via Kickstarter messages, or more directly via https://inkwellgames.com/contact/
Speaking of our website, we have given the website a bit of an update. We will also be adding more information about our designers, as well as keeping you up to date on things as they happen, in addition to monthly updates. You can sign up on the website to receive email updates when we post. Our website can be found at inkwellgames.com
We have also dusted off our Twitter account thoroughly, and this is another way to keep up to date as it happens. Feel free to give us a follow on there, as it is the best way to stay in touch with us. As we don’t exist in a vacuum, but in a vibrant indie community, expect all sorts of cool indie and/or roll-and-write content to feature. You can follow us at twitter.com/inkwellgames
Pre-orders and Upgrades
For those who still want to get their hands on a copy of Dice & Ink, digital or physical, or to upgrade from digital to physical, pre-orders are still available from our website. We are working on getting a more robust webshop solution running, but there will be no functional difference between pre-ordering now or later. Once we know when production and fulfillment can start, we will also let you know when we will be closing pre-orders.
You can reach the pre-orders page at inkwellgames.com/pre-orders
As our project is coming close on production and fulfillment, we are more and more simply at the hands of our production and fulfillment partners. Nevertheless, we’ll keep you updated as we know more with regards to our schedule. Because of global events, such as the coronavirus, a lot of things are uncertain, but we are communicating with our production and fulfillment partners. As of now, we do not yet expect a delay. However, this may change, and when it does, we will inform you.
